I know you might recognize this name from the soon to come movie. But how many of you actually know what this is Google it, read it. I learned about it last year in my Sr. year of high school. MY environmental science teacher had a full lesson on this. Once you google it look at these. chernobylpictures.net/

I actually wasn't too familiar with it until I saw the previews for the upcoming movie. I just started reading a book about it (Chernobyl Murders: Book One in the Lazlo Horvath Thriller Series by Michael Beres) because the whole incident sounded interesting even from the movie. It sounded like it follows the event pretty accurately so I'll learn more about it from there too.

I've been doing some personal research myself and looking through pictures. Stuff like this baffles me.

I remember glancing at this a few times, back in the day.. The pictures anyway. It seems it would be a photographer's gold mine.
From what I remember, I believe some parts are open to the public. Then other sections of the area are blocked off due to higher levels of radiation. Would be a really cool visit, but it is depressing to think of its history.

The children in gas masks in their classroom creeped me out at first... Those photos are so sad to see, with everything decaying like that.

I was reading about this on Wikipedia, till I saw how long the history of it was I thought I'd give it a miss What exactly is it? Was it a nuclear power plant that blow up sending off radiation heat causing people and animals to have disfigured faces and bodies?? And that's why thousands had to be evacuated out of the area and thousands died??

Chernobyl, that place is spooky, its beyond depiction, so the movie does it no justice, and what happened Intensity, since I was alive during the time, was there was an accident in the facility, and it caused a nuclear meltdown and explosion, contaminating the area of about 20 miles, and causing nearby residents to flee, those who didnt... Well.. Lets just say they became "deformed" You got the general idea of it though...
